Tracks Ecology is the trading name of James Bunyan B.Sc., M.Sc., MCIEEM, AEECOW who became a freelance ecological consultant in 2014. 

James has over fifteen years ecological experience working within both the academic and commercial consultancy sectors working on a wide range of research and development projects requiring high quality ecological surveys.

He has worked on a significant number of projects involving Ecological Impact Assessments for wind farms, single turbine projects and other development schemes including biomass, hydro-electric, housing, transmission and BREEAM.

James' expertise is centred on protected species survey and management including bats, badgers, great crested newts, otter, water vole and reptiles and he holds Scottish Natural Heritage 'survey' licences for bats and great crested newts. He has extensive experience in initial baseline assessments and focused protected species surveys along with skills in impact assessment, mitigation, habitat management and enhancement strategies.

As a full member of the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) all work undertaken is within the Code of Conduct and project outputs are clear and concise reports suited to individual clients needs providing unbiased professional advice through a strong evidence based approach.

Tracks Ecology is also now a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) qualified Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operator with a current Operational Authorisation and full insurances for UAV flights, as well as being a member of ARPAS-UK, the professional trade Association for Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Systems in the UK.
