Blyborough Tick

We are presently assisting to resolve some conflict issues at a soprano pipistrelle bat roost in Fort Augustus, Highlands and during some cleaning out of old droppings a number of ticks were observed within the droppings. These were later identified (with kind confirmation from David Dodds) to be the Blyborough Tick Argas vespertilionis. Although probably due to under recording, records for the species within Scotland are very limited. We'll be looking out for these on future roost inspections, especially maternity roosts.
