Plant translocations

As part of Tracks Ecology's ongoing work for Nevis Environmental providing on site Environmental Clerk of Works support at a Highlands windfarm we undertook a series of plant translocations in 2015. Translocations of both dwarf birch Betula nana and alpine bearberry Arctostaphylos alpina were undertaken to minimise the loss of individual plants on site and meet planning obligations under the site Habitat Management Plan. Translocations occurred in late summer 2015 and recently monitoring efforts have confirmed success, with all plants checked to date showing signs of spring growth. We look forward to seeing the plants thrive in their new homes.
